Introducing Anchor for the web
Today I’m announcing the launch of anchorwallet.io, a new way to create a Vaulta account and use it anywhere. It runs entirely in your browser. There’s nothing to download, nothing to install, and creating an account today is free (with a social login).

The onboarding problem
For as long as this network has existed, the most challenging part of every app built has been the first minute of a new user’s experience. A new user had to find a wallet, install it, generate and back up keys - all before touching the app they actually came for. My belief is that most people never made it through. I ran into this wall myself years ago building apps, and it’s what pulled me into working on the layers underneath them: wallets, protocols, APIs, and SDKs.
Today’s launch is aimed directly at that first minute.
What launched
Anchor now has a web version. It’s a non-custodial wallet that runs in your browser, secured by Passkeys, the same technology behind the passwordless sign-ins you may already use. Ledger devices are supported as well (in Chrome-based browsers). Your keys are created on your device and stay there.
Account creation is free, using familiar social logins through the account creation system we built at Greymass. And because it’s built on Wharf, any app on the network can integrate it. That means apps can onboard brand new users right where they are: a “Create Account” button inside the app, a popup, and a minute later that person is signed in with a real Vaulta account.
You can see this live on Unicove today. The “Create Account” button on the homepage launches it directly.
Where this came from
This project began as the “web authenticator”, built during the network-funded development work of 2024-25, with roots going back to 2021, when the Wallet+ Blue Paper first proposed a wallet like this. Last year I published a post titled Sign in with Vaulta, where I first showed it running on testnet.
The original plan was different from what launched. It was going to be presented as a “Vaulta Account”, living at account.vaulta.com, a core piece of network-branded onboarding for a new vaulta.com experience. That plan depended on a bigger strategy that I no longer expect to happen anytime soon.
Instead, I reworked the project as a standalone product under the Anchor brand, alongside the existing desktop and mobile apps. I also built in migration functions, so if the network someday wants this back under its own brand strategy, that can happen without stranding users.
For developers
If you build on the network, @wharfkit/wallet-plugin-anchor 1.7.2 has the web version built in. When a user selects “Anchor” for the first time, they now choose between the web flow and the app flow. This only appears on chains where the web version is enabled, which today is Vaulta and Jungle 4; every other chain behaves exactly as before.
You no longer need your own onboarding system either. A single login call can trigger account creation and sign the new user into your app in one flow. Additional integration instructions are at anchorwallet.io/integrate.
What happens next
There’s more work ahead: wallet migrations, deeper plugin integration, and improvements as real feedback comes in. What matters today is that the piece every app has been missing is live: a way to turn a visitor into a new user in under a minute.
